With this layout I tried to create the feeling of sadness using colors that I feel best represent that feeling. I also tried to create the illusion of depth by playing with the translucent effect. That effect also managed to create new colors by blending with the color in the background.
I'm impressed with your decision to eliminate all the white space. The layers work well and give the composition the same depth that the feeling of sadness has.
